Awards
When my photographic work wins international awards, it is of course a great pleasure. Especially because I do what I do with a lot of dedication.
My focus is on architectural photography and fine art photography. In both areas, I am interested in making spaces visible – in their structure, in their effect, sometimes also in their stillness. The fact that my pictures are well received in competitions such as the 35AWARDS or the VIPA Awards is both – a confirmation and an incentive for me.
Good architectural photography has little to do with mere documentation. It needs emotion and atmosphere – whether it’s a hotel, a townhouse or a deserted cityscape.
So these awards are not the goal, but rather a nice side effect of my work. The journey is the goal.
Tobias Trumpp is photographer of the year 2022
Tobias Trumpp, an architectural and fine art photographer based in Berlin and Hamburg, was named Photographer of the Year 2022 in the Urban Landscape (+Architecture) category at the international 35AWARDS photography competition. His work is now officially recognized as among the best architectural photographs in the world in the field of artistic black-and-white photography.
The 8th edition of the 35AWARDS received over 445,000 submissions from more than 100,000 participants in 174 countries. Trumpp impressed the judges with an impressive series of urban architectural photographs, was named one of the world’s top 100 photographers of the year, and won first place in his category.
As a professional architectural and real estate photographer, Tobias Trumpp works throughout Germany, with offices in Berlin and Hamburg. In addition to commercial projects, he regularly offers workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions on fine art photography, where he shares his extensive expertise in composition, lighting, and artistic image design.
Tobias Trumpp takes 2nd place at the 35Awards
Photographer Tobias Trumpp was honored at the prestigious international 35AWARDS photography competition for his outstanding work in the field of fine art photography. Tobias Trumpp is a professional photographer specializing in real estate photography, architectural photography, and fine art black-and-white photography.
For the 7th edition of the 35AWARDS, over 470,000 photographs were submitted worldwide by more than 124,000 participants from 174 countries. Tobias Trumpp made the shortlist for the third phase of the competition with all of his submitted works—an achievement attained by only about one percent of the entries.
Trumpp received special recognition for his atmospherically rich series of urban architectural landscapes. He took 2nd place worldwide in the “Urban Landscape (Architecture)” category. In addition, he was included in the selection of the Top 100 Photographers of the Year—one of the competition’s highest honors.
Tobias Trumpp Wins International Photography Award at the VIPA Awards
Toulouse, May 2021 – Tobias Trumpp was awarded first place in the “Architecture / Cityscapes” category at the Visions International Photo Awards (VIPA). The jury recognized his fine art photo series “Lockdown Lessons,” which was created during the pandemic and is characterized by a minimalist, visually dense visual language.
The works depict cityscapes in quiet moments—deserted, poetic, and full of atmosphere. With their combination of conceptual clarity and emotional depth, the images stood out among an international field of entrants. As the title “Lockdown Lessons” suggests, this series draws inspiration from the emotional and social challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competition is led by an international team of curators and honors outstanding works in the fields of architecture, documentary, portraiture, and fine art.
“This award validates my approach to understanding urban spaces as a mirror of collective emotions – especially in times of change,” says Tobias Trumpp.
